A Transmission from Fol Chen:
"You know that mysterious black object that the creepy family is staring at on the cover of Led Zeppelin's "Presence" album? Fol Chen sound like that… But we don't sound like Led Zeppelin. (We actually do a little.) Instead, we sound a bit like Prince with Amon Duul II and a children's religious revival, not to mention Hot Chip, Pink Floyd, Gwen Stefani, Pere Ubu, Danielson Famile, Scritti Politti, Boards of Canada, The Blow, and Pulp. (Mostly.) We are using secret powers and the guidance of legendary DJ Donna Donna to combat our nemesis, John Shade. We are cryptic and joyful and we would like you to dance."
From its inception, Valleys has been always changing. From the quiet and exploratory preliminary years to the stormy experimentation of recent works, the duo has always had one foot in the pop realm and the other in the dirt. Are You Going To Stand There And Talk Weird All Night? is the result of a year’s worth of writing through unexpected loss and spiritual recovery. Working with meditative and spatial elements, Valleys aims to blur the lines between noise, melody, repetition and space results in a dark, mysterious and cinematic quality to their sound.

Recorded and co-produced by Alec “Orson Presence” Dippie from the legendary British post punk group The Monochrome Set, “Are You Going To Stand There And Talk Weird All Night?” is to be released on Kanine Records this spring.
SoftSpot is a band based out of Bushwick in Brooklyn, NY. Core members Sarah Kinlaw and Bryan Keller have been playing together since 2009 but have known each other since they were in the same kindergarten class. After teaming up with artist and drummer Andrew Spaulding in the Spring of 2011, the band evolved, saw the release of an EP entitled "NOUS" and continued touring with a visceral live performance. His departure led to the addition of drummer Blaze Bateh, transplant from Athens, GA and friend from touring the Southeast. SoftSpot's full length entitled Enso will come out on September 4th, 2012.
